Spring Summer 2025… Summer Suede

The magic of Lake Como inspired missives from Claudian, Pliny, Shelley and Virgil, but our favourite quote about Italy’s most famous body of water comes from the late, great Robin Williams. “When you look at the sky over Lake Como,” said the much-loved actor and comedian, “it’s clear that God exists.” Having recently returned from the Lombardy shores, we echo Williams’ sentiment.

The pretty towns and villages that line Lake Como look like settings from a film – and they are. Recent movies to have made the most of the area’s sparkling waters and spectacular scenery include Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Casino Royale, Crockett & Jones fan Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond. So, where better we thought, for own production crew to shoot our Spring Summer 2025 Collection?

Tresco | Crockett & Jones

This pre-Alpine part of Italy is famed for its medieval villages and neoclassical villas. Yet time on the Lake never stands still. Among the Grande Dame hotels that litter its shores, recent years have witnessed the openings of a new breed of accommodation. Sleek, sophisticated, surpassing – contemporary boltholes that blend in with their surroundings and complement the classical buildings of centuries gone by. Like life on the Lake, Crockett & Jones footwear is evolving – our Spring Summer 2025 Collection honouring the past while embracing the future.

Consisting of a range of summer-ready suede shoes and boots, the collection includes the brand new Tresco, Crockett & Jones’ interpretation of a classic, if relaxed, Oxford, which features our very first Gum coloured rubber wedge sole. ‘Wedge’ refers to the slope between the forepart, waist and heel of shoe. Designed and made in England, Crockett & Jones’ new sole has been produced to a unique specification, blending comfort, flexibility, durability and grip.

Made using our unstructured construction method, the Tresco features flexi-welts and a lightweight ribbing. To create a more casual shoe we have removed the toe stiffener, but by utilising the tight fibre structure of our shoulder insoles, have not affected the excellent fitting quality of our Last 378. Tresco is available in Khaki Suede, Pistachio Suede and Pastel Blue Suede.

Elsewhere in the collection, Salcombe 2 is a ‘light-weight leather lined version of our Salcombe, a best-selling plain-front loafer with a raised seam apron. First introduced in 2021, the Salcombe was one of the first shoes to be made using Crockett & Jones’ unstructured construction process, adding lightness and increased flexibility. Whereas that original shoe featured our Superflex leather sole, the Salcombe 2 sits on our new Gum coloured rubber wedge sole. The loafer epitomises simplicity and ease of wear through its wholecut design and inset-cut apron with box-stitch detailing. The Salcombe 2 is available in Snuff Suede, Pistachio Suede and Desert Suede.

While the Spring Summer 2025 Collection offers something not seen from Crockett & Jones before, both the Tresco and Salcombe 2 remain handmade in our Northampton factory using the time-honoured Goodyear-welted construction method. Showcasing our new Gum coloured rubber wedge sole, the collection blends old and new seamlessly – like the lakeside setting in which the shoes were shot.
